Does contacting St. Johns Law Group make me a client?
No. Contacting the firm, sending an email or submitting a website form does not by itself establish an attorney-client relationship. Representation begins only after the firm's conflict process and a written engagement agreement.
What information should I provide initially?
Provide enough general information to identify the type of matter, the parties involved and any urgent deadline. Do not send confidential or sensitive details until conflicts have been checked and representation established.
Can I meet with an attorney remotely?
Yes. Depending on the matter and attorney availability, consultations and meetings may be available in person, by telephone or videoconference.
How are attorney fees determined?
Fees depend on the type, scope and complexity of the matter. Depending on the legal service, arrangements may include hourly, flat-fee, contingency or another agreed structure. Applicable terms are addressed before representation begins.
What if I am not sure whether I need an attorney or a mediator?
Contact the firm and describe the situation generally. If you need advice or advocacy for your own interests, you are generally seeking an attorney. If opposing parties are jointly looking for a neutral to facilitate settlement, you may be seeking a mediator.
